Over 65’s York
York Croquet Club was abuzz last weekend hosting the over 65’s Tournament.
We played with a different partner each game which was great for the less experienced players to learn from their partners. It gave the more experienced players the opportunity to impart their knowledge.
The noise from the pesky corellas was deafening which made it difficult to concentrate at times.
The weather was great and as always we were kept well fed and hydrated.
Winning all of his ten games was Simon Moran from East Fremantle Croquet Club.
Runner up was Peter Hamilton from Como Croquet Club who excecuted the shot of the Tournament – a successful jump shot from the boundary.
Congratulations to Simon.

Gosnells Handicap Doubles

Sorrento GC Doubles Championship
It was a warm, pleasant day on Saturday. The lawns were magnificent and our five teams played competitively and happily.
We were also pleased to have as spectators, ex Sorrento players Sandy Boon and Jenny Wilmot.
It was great to see Rose play in a Club competition and, as partner to Wendy, proved to be a very formidable opponent.
Also playing with minimal previous competition experience were Steve, Maria and Jan and Geoff Day. They all played well and ensured that no opponents had an easy win.
After some very close competition, Terry and Jan came first, winning four games, with Di and Thora in second place winning three. Wendy and Rose took both those teams to a tie break so it could have been quite a different result. Well done to all competitors.

Nedlands – Wednesday Evening
Looking for a game on a Wednesday evening?
As the sun goes down over the Nedlands Croquet Club the members come out to play. After a couple of rounds its time for some banter and refreshments on the balcony.
The club has enjoyed the visits from members of other metropolitan clubs on a Wednesday evening. It has been a great opportunity to get to know other croquet players and share in their experiences.
Once refreshed, its back on the lawns for more competitive croquet. So if you are free we would love you to join us on a Wednesday evening from 5pm on wards.
