Around the Courts February 28th

We were treated to some ‘bewidful’ weather for croquet this weekend as opposed to our friends in Queensland and parts of NSW.

Geraldton conducted a GC Doubles L/P 12+ event which produced some really tight results with almost 40% of games going to the 13th hoop! Overall winners were Kay Chynoweth and Bob Imray.

Full results can be found on Croquetscores.

The Moorabinda GC Handicap Singles were completed Sunday with the result coming down to the last game. Two players were tied on 10 wins each with John Bird winning with net 22 hoops to Bob James net 20 hoops. It was an extremely enjoyable day (even though I struggled on the court) as I got to observe the very best make it look so easy. In the opening doubles games, I observed my first TPO with Jeff peeling his opposing player Max through his last three hoops and making life that much tougher Sandra. Basil successfully pegged out both his and his opponent balls setting up a tactical battle between Megan and Robyn.

In the singles, Alan was almost flawless in making his breaks and setting his leaves against me. Max played super and limited Jeff’s visits to the court before pegging out. Chris scored a super win against Ian, who came up just short in a delayed TP. What was really impressive was that after both losses, Jeff and Ian then produced fantastic TP’s against their next opponents.

After last weeks full moon, Moorabinda was treated to another lovely evening on Wednesday.
