First, your contribution must be converted to one of the Yahoo approved file types listed at

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/geo/gfiles/gfiles-24.html

If it is not then you need

• Change it, or
• Send it to me and hope I have the time and capability to change it.

To check how your contribution will appear on your pc:

• Start Internet Explorer;
• Click on the menu File/Open;
• Click on the Browse button;
• Open your contribution.

Note that it may appear differently on other pcs due to different screen settings and/or different programs invoked by different settings of File Type in Windows Explorer.

If you do not like what you get, a few courses of action are available;

• If your contribution is a graphics file that is the wrong size, then change the size;
• If your contribution is a MS Word document or Excel 2003 workbook file, then open it, click on File/Save as Web page, and check the new appearance.
• If you started from MS Word, DO NOT use spaces and tables to set up columns or position items on lines. USE Tables.
• Text colour can be set in MS Word under Format/Font
• Background colour can be set in MS Word under Format/Background
• Many small pictures for background (such as Leave.gif used on this page) are available on the site. But use Link to file, not include in file to avoid multiple copies of the same file being stored. To see these file names Left click on a background you like and click on Save Background As.

The policy of the web site is that the site should be as simple as possible so all files should be viewable with  standard Windows 98 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later. So Adobe files are avoided as far as possible.
