Western Australia Debuts in EIRE Cup

Our first ever State Team travels to Tasmania to compete in the 1952 National Championships.

1959

Gold Medal to WA

Gwen Leahey From the Nedlands Croquet Club becomes WA’s first winner of the ACA Gold Medal Competition.

1967

First Success in Open Doubles

Sheila MacDonald and Jess Muir become the first Western Australian pair to win the Open Doubles

1969

Sheila MacDonald wins Australian Open

Sheila becomes the first winner from Western Australia of the ACA Open Singles after previously finishing runner up in 1967.

Playing Record

1971

First success in Men’s Singles

George Maslen become the first WA winner of the Men’s Singles.

To prove it was no fluke, he repeated his victory in 1972. With Sheila winning also, this is the only time WA has won both the Mens’ and Women’s Singles in the same year

1989

WA claims first title!

Hosting the National Championships proved to be the impetus for WA to claim its first ever success in the EIRE Cup.

2004

WA claims 2nd Title with two players winning all of their matches for the first time.

After 15 years, WA is back in the Winners Circle and both Martin Clarke and Helene Thurston win all of their singles and doubles matches.
