Busselton was pleased to host the event that was last played in 2010.Eight teams entered and the format decided on was a Round Robin, with a knockout based on the top 4 playing for the Championship and teams finishing 5th to 8th competing for the Plate. The knockout games were 19 point games, the first experience for some of the players, but they took to it readily and adjusted well.
The weather forecast wasn’t encouraging, but fortunately it turned out to be wrong, with little rain, but blustery winds on the Saturday caused a few problems.
Games were competitive, with plenty of single point wins, but played in a friendly manner. The Championship Semis were 10-9 and 10-8, with Wendy Collins and Graeme Davies from Dunsborough going through to meet Dianne and Judith in the Final. Dianne and Judith got off to a great start. Wendy and Graeme fought back well,but steady play from Dianne and Judith kept them at bay, and they were 8-5 up when the timer went.
Congratulations to Dianne and Judith on becoming the State B Grade Champions, the first in 14 years. Here’s hoping this Tournament now remains as an annual event on the Croquetwest Calendar.”
