Yesterday, Marty was at Bayswater running an Introduction to AC session. It was fantastic to see so many players particpating and importantly, taking the opportunity of learning new skills.
There was a wide cross section of clubs represented too with members from; Bayswater, Sorrento, Como, East Fremantle, Forrest Park, Cambridgeand Drakesbrook.

Unlike certain parts of the Eastern States, we were treated to a very warm weekend.
Remember to keep an eye on the Calendar as the GC season is now in full swing.
Croquetwest GC State Open Doubles
First played in 1996, this was the 20th running of the GC Open Doubles.
L Cullum and H Smith were the inaugural winners with the pairings of Martin Clarke and Peter Brown, along with Brett and Janine McHardy being the most successful having won it three times each. Interestingly, Marty won it three times in succession with Peter between from 2013-2015 and then followed it with another win 2016 but with a different partner.
With strong nominations, the event was held over two venues; Forrest Park and Nedlands.
It was terrific to see so many clubs represented, especially from our newer clubs in Hyden and Drakesbrook. It was also amazing to see so many entries from players who were keen to learn on the job after only playing for a short period of time. Cindy and Yolanda (Mandurah), Keith (Forrest Park), Anthony (Dunsborough), Wayne (Hyden) and Kirsten (Drakesbrook).
Winners: Robyn Dart (Busselton) & Gary Phipps (Moorabinda)
Runners Up: Jenifer Rechter (Como) & Chris McWhirter (Forrest Park
150 entries for 80 places in the upcoming GC World Championships. The MC are reviewing the entries and will announce Ranking Places and Wild Cards by 16th April at the latest.
I have to head off and set some hoops otherwise I’d keep watching the U21’s in action. As I’m typing, the two top ranked New Zealanders in Levi Franks and Josh Winter are currently duelling.
Looking Back
Currently working on some bits and pieces and have been on the hunt for images of our club’s Life Members. Luckily, I came across a photo on Saturday from 1979, just prior to Moorabinda leaving the Sampson Road site.
And so I have only one member left to find – Mrs R Bromfield. It is possible that Ruby was also a member of the Merredin Croquet Club prior to moving to Bunbury in 1953.
Whilst searching, I also came across this great photo of members from Bunbury Central.
