Around the Courts 17th July

A busy week! Forrest Park hosted the GC State Open Mixed Doubles, Cambridge held their GC Singles Championships, Como conducted their AC B Grade Singles and East Fremantle have made a start with their GC Singles Championships.

GC State Open Mixed Doubles

14 pairs were greeted with beautiful playing conditions on Saturday but it all changed on the Sunday with steady rain throughout the day. Thankfully the wind stayed away. There were no easy games and the tournament was played in great spirit.

  • Winners: Robyn Dart (Busselton) and Gary Phipps (Moorabinda)
  • Runners Up: Brett McHardy (Forrest Park) and Sue Anderson (Gosnells)
  • Third: Alan Sands (Como) and Jennifer Brand (Cambridge)

Harry is proving that there are many strings to his bow with a strong showing in AC over the weekend.

Cambridge GC Singles Championships

It wasn’t until Matthew Whitfield and Basil Ladyman played the last game of the day that outright winner of this event was decided.
