Swan Croquet club, sometimes referred to as Guildford Croquet club was founded in 1903.
Swan was one of the foundation clubs of the Western Australian Croquet Association and played early interclub matches preceding the pennants competition.

The club was located along with the bowling club on James St, entry probably of Attfield St as it is today.
The club colours were Blue and Yellow, although over time the description was changed to Royal Blue and Gold.
The clubhouse currently used by the bowls club is probably not radically changed over the years, the croquet courts are most likely now the car park.
Pennants success was modest to say the least, with 1960 the standout performance !
A grade 1960
A2 in 1929 and 1938
B grade 1938, 1948, 1952
B2 in 1940
C grade 1960
Despite this a number of good players came from the club.
The club was also linked in it’s early years to the associations second president Mary Rason and her husband the 7th Premier of WA, Sir Cornthwaite Hector William James Rason, who famously apparently appointed himself agent general to London. An excellent biography can be found here and concludes with a fantastic quote:“…….‘I’m not a model of virtue and fine feeling by any means old man’.“
