Around the Courts 10th April

A quiet weekend with Easter upon us. If you weren’t on the courts, I hope you enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Many thanks to all those who maintain their club Facebook pages as I have had to rely on you this weekend. Make sure you check them out!

Belmont Croquet Club

The Belmont Croquet Club held their annual Easter event.

From Sorrento’s Facebook page: “Had a lovely day at Belmont Croquet Club today. A lot of fun playing with different people and to top it all, we ended up with Easter Baskets. Rain came after we had finished. Thank you Belmont people.”

Forrest Park Croquet Club

From their Facebook page: “The junior cricket club, which uses Forrest Park for its games, held its wind-up on Easter Saturday at the Croquet Club. Judging by the noise levels – cheers when hoops were run, high fives, or groans when missed – everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Thanks to the cricketers for their annual booking and thanks to the many volunteers who were kept busy organising games.”

Cambridge Croquet Club

A shipment of new club mallets recently arrived from Wood Mallets in New Zealand in preparation for their next Introduction to Croquet participants.

Marty was also spotted at the club during the week running another coaching session.

Red Hat Ladies Visit

In perfect conditions, on Friday 31st March, the club house and surrounds were a sea of red and purple as 27 ‘Red Hat Ladies’ converged onto the greens to take part in a fun tournament. Even though some had not played before..or very much, there was some amazing shots zinging around the grass. There was much laughter and gentle teasing by all as club members helped score and keep things looking vaguely like a ‘proper’ croquet game. Afterwards the ladies enjoyed a lovely lunch prepared by some hardworking club members.

Check out the great video on their Facebook page.
