Midland Junction Croquet Club

Midland Junction Croquet club began life as part of the Bowling club in 1910.

The initial club colours were Chocolate and Blue, but these were later changed to the more traditional Black and White of the area.

The club struggled for many years to attract a large membership.

The facility was at least in it’s later years on Morrison Rd near the intersection of Great Northern Highway.

As the sports precinct was moved away from this site the croquet was the last to leave, disbanding in the late 1990’s.

Never a major player in WA croquet the club rarely managed to win pennants with only three wins ever recorded;

B grade in 1958

B2 in 1936

and

Div 4 in 1968

My recollection of the facility was it looked very dishevelled and was situated near an old cottage surrounded by prickly pears, probably the one in the photo, the area around it is mainly an overflow car park. (Martin Clarke)
